Situated in Stripeikiai village, in the northwest of the Aukštaitija National Park, in the outskirts of Mincia, it is a unique museum of such a type in Lithuania.

The Museum was opened in 1984 in one homestead and has been growing and developing ever since. Today, the exposition of the museum is demonstrated in 6 buildings, some showpieces are demonstrated in open air. The museum has about 500 showpieces, 25 sculptures. A whole hive of bees is accommodated inside the apian deity Babilas sculpture.

Visit the museum and you’ll learn how beekeeping was developing from ancient times until nowadays. There are special glass hives to see how bees work inside the hives, how they make honeycombs, place the nectar, pollen they brought in, raise new bees, etc. There are 8 bee families living here. In 2005, the museum sheltered 3 bee families of the President of Lithuania.

To make your visit in the museum interesting, there is always a staff member of the museum to show, tell and explain everything to you. Bigger groups are recommended to book guide services in advance. At your wish, the guide may accompany you not only in the museum, but also to other places to visit.
