Geocache Description:


Cette cache vous emmène sur les pas de Louise Michel, révolutionnaire et anarchiste qui joua un rôle majeur lors de la Commune de Paris en 1871. Près de la cache, une stèle érigée à la mémoire de le « Vierge Rouge » vous racontera son histoire.

Louise Michel est née le 29 mai 1830 dans le petit village haut-marnais de Vroncourt la Côte qu’elle décrivait en ces mots : « Ce n'est qu'une mer de feuillages où timide, à peine surnage un tout petit clocher pointu. ».

Devenue institutrice, elle enseigne quelques années en Haut-marne avant de rejoindre Paris où elle rencontre de nombreuses personnalités des courants révolutionnaires de l’époque. Puis viennent les évènements de la Commune de Paris. Arrêtée et condamnée au bagne, elle est exilée en Nouvelle-Calédonie où elle restera jusqu’en 1880.

De retour en France elle continue de militer activement et multiplie les conférences en France et en Europe.
Elle meurt à Marseille le 9 janvier 1905 et est enterrée à Levallois-Perret.

This cache will take you to the path of Louise Michel, revolutionary and anarchist who played a mayor role in the events of “la Commune de Paris” in 1871. Near this cache is established a monument that will tell you a story about the “Red Virgin” .

Louise Michael was born on 29th May 1830 in the small village in the Haute-Marne, Vroncourt la Cote.
She became a teacher and before moving to Paris she teached for some years in Haute-Marne. It was in Paris where she met many revolutionarys of that time. After that came the events of “la Commune de Paris” and she was arrested and condemned to labor camp. She was exiled to New Caledony where she stayed until 1880.

She returned to France and continued with military activities and she increased the number of conferences in France and Europe as well.
She died in Marseille on 9th of January 1905. She is buried in Levallois-Perret.
