As with a black hole, this cache will suck you in deeper and deeper, there is no escaping, there is nothing... until you find the much coveted BPJC at the end of this hunt! CAN YOU RESIST THIS BLACK HOLE? WILL YOU FIND IT?
Since I moved here to live just over 5 years ago, the locals have repeatedly told me that the best view of Ponty is from the Graig. I had never found the exact spot to find that view until recently!
This cache will take you on a walk so you can experience that stunning view for yourself, the cache was set late in the day and the transition from sunset, to dusk, then to night time, was stunning. I would not suggest for a second though that you try this cache at night - it would be near impossible!
Whilst up here you could go for it's very close neighbour, H2O+O2, Reservoirs on the hill. (I hadn't realised how close they were until after I set this cache sorry, I had initially done that cache when it was on the other side of the hill! Dohhh)
My other favourite view of the area is from Gellionnen on the other side of Pontardawe from 'Y Graig'... I can't decide which is the best view. What do you think?
This BPJC cache is an entry in the Birdman Peach Jar Challenge, it has been entered in the least-found-cache category - Check out The Leaderboard...
Unlike some BPJC caches in this category, this cache is possible to complete, the published co-ordinates will get you started, and to the first stage. This is a very straight forward multi cache, it does not involve any puzzles! But, it relies on using some good old fashioned Cacher's Nose / Sense... This is NOT an impossible cache, it is just so cunning, that you could put a tail on it and call it a fox!
For FTF there is a Trophy, an unactivated FTF Geocoin, and LOTS of GC kudos!
The cache is jam packed full of swaps.
There will be no hints until the end of the BPJC and a winner declared.
This cache is worth doing even if you do not find the final Peach Jar... The views are stunning! I could sit up here for hours...
It would be fantastic if you could log your DNFs and note which stage you failed to find... I am curious to know what part is the most difficult to find.
Dog owners please note. At one point the public footpath goes through open land that has horses in it. Please keep your dog under control and on a leash at all times. Thank you!
One last note, the best place to park would be on the road in Alltwen near the lodge, you might need to pop in there after to recover anyway. If you drive any closer to the beginning of the footpath you might not find a place to park, and turning your car will be almost impossible without reversing all the way out! (Waypoint for on-road parking to be added later)
Note: Due to the results of initial testing I have upped the rating to an official '5'...
Also note, please wear good footwear and bring with you the usual tools of the cacher... I would bring a picnic too, not only because it is a perfect place to stop and enjoy an alfresco meal... but you will be up here for hours unless you have the nose for the caching! LOL
