The Cuban Missile Crisis was a confrontation between the United States, the Soviet Union, and Cuba in October 1962, during the Cold War. In Russia, former Eastern Bloc, and communist countries (i.e. China and North Korea), it is termed the "Caribbean Crisis", while in Cuba it is called the "October Crisis." The crisis ranks with the Berlin Blockade as one of the major confrontations of the Cold War, and is generally regarded as the moment in which the Cold War came closest to a nuclear war.

Medium range ballistic missiles R-12 which played such prominent role in Cuban Missile Crisis were deployed in western parts of Soviet Union during the Cold War. There are several abandoned above ground and underground R-12 launch complexes in the territory of Latvian Republic. The cache is hidden inside type “Dvina” R-12 nuclear missile silo complex near Tirza. You will need a good flashlight and some durable clothing which You are not afraid to stain. Water resistant footwear is recommended but not required. It is possible to explore the complex alone, but You will be much safer and feel better underground if accompanied by a friend.
Underground missile launch complex near Tirza is probably the best preserved silo complex in Latvia. Unlike similar complexes near Eleja GCM3G7 and Lambarte GC1X9XP, because of lower groundwater level Tirza complex 2nd underground level is not flooded at all which has somewhat slowed the decay of what is left of the interior of the base and makes it possible to fully explore both underground levels without getting Your feet wet.
Please do not damage remains of the wall signs, furniture and machinery. Do not leave any trash inside the underground complex and take out any modern day junk left there by others. Thank You.

Listed coordinates will take You to the underground silo complex entrance. Check Your flashlight before going inside, if it goes out while You are underground You will be in trouble. Be very careful and watch Your step while inside. Search for cache in 2nd underground level near “Attention!” sign.
