Haiku Cache No.4-Farmer's Backyard
How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
Located at the Montvale Environmental Center (according to the plaque), this is a park and grab. Walk along the boardwalk and enjoy this small parcel of undeveloped land nestled behind the DePiero's Farm amidst the corporate campuses. Cache is hidden mere steps from the path.
Despite the location, this bit of green acres is rather devoid of visitors aside from hungry mosquitoes. I was bitten 11 times just placing the cache. Feel free to walk the loops as it won't take longer than 15 minutes to complete at a leisurely pace. Spy on the corporate complexes visible between the tree branches and perched birds as you hear UPS delivery trucks roaring by. Can you spot the rock with the fossilized sea shells in it? It's quite close to the cache.
Stop by the Montvale library for some literature to read on the benches for a break from caching. I hope not to hear of the police hauling cachers off. ;) This being the fourth in the series of my haiku caches, please take a moment to write your own while enjoying the creativity of others' before you. Afterwards, swing by the DePiero's farm for fruits, veggies, plants, baked goods, refreshments and more!
Parking is in the library/police complex lot. Due to water leakage, the old cache (peanut butter jar with a blue lid) has been replaced with a slightly larger screw-top container covered in olive drab camo tape. Please re-hide it well as it could otherwise be easily seen from the path.
