Angelswee - The Angel
How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
This cache belongs to the series of 6 Angelswee caches which are all hidden near the village of Angelsbierg.
Start with the Devil and you’ll end up to the Moon. The first 5 Angelswee caches do not depend on solving any other riddle of the series. However, the right solution will give you extra hint for some of the other ones. Angelswee - The Moon is a bonus cache which can be solved only after you have collected enough extra hints. All the clues and hints can be found in the cache descriptions or using the geochecker. Also Google can be a good friend for you. In the forest you only need to find the waypoints and the finals.
Read everything carefully, note the small details and remember what you have seen. All the clues may be needed.
The 4 elements
Several of the great Greek philosophers considered all matter to be composed of four basic "elements", fire, air, earth and water. They believed that all materials had these components mixed in different proportions and all substances could be converted (transmuted) into each other with the varying alchemical powers (e.g. 0, 1, 2 and 3) and by varying the proportions of the mixture. For example the gold with alchemical power 4 could have been mixture of 2 parts of fire and 1 part of air. Correspondingly the silver with alchemical power 6 could have been mixture of 2 parts of water and 1 part of air.
This tansmutation theory was the basis of Alchemy from approx. 300 B.C. to 1500 A.D., when the medieval alchemists were mainly concerned with trying to turn base metals into gold and looking for the elixir of life - although they also developed medicinal drugs, developed couterfeiting techniques and the debasement of precious metals. The alchemists represented their "element" by a variety of symbols, some of which were based on astrological signs. Gold (Sun), silver (Moon), copper (Venus), iron (Mars), tin (Jupiter), lead (Saturn) and quicksilver (Mercury).
