SHATTERED!
If you're like me, you collect accurate data about your caching activity by carefully encoding it onto rectangular plates of glass stored on thin pedestals in the field where you tend your elephants. Now I'm not accusing any particular elephant, but somehow a plate broke, and it has two sets of numbers on it. I have the North and West degrees for the cache (it's N33°, W084°), but not the "minutes" (the further 5 digits) for them.
The true cache coordinates are N33° XX.XXX’, W084° XX.XXX’
As you can see some numbers are missing! Can you fill in the additional five digits for latitude and longitude? It's a mystery, hidden in a broken image!
THE HUNT
Once you've solved it, park at the South Loop parking lot ...and take a hike. You'll go off-trail on your search. It's thick with trees and tall shrubs, there are vicious thorns, and poison ivy. There's an overgrown dirt road to follow to avoid the fields of briars, but the place has become quite a jungle over the years. If it’s been raining, there will be some mud and standing water. Please re-stash and cover the container well, so others won't notice it.
THE LAKE
Situated on Fayette County's newest and largest reservoir, Lake Horton Park covers 82 acres and offers paved walking trails, boat ramps, picnic areas, and fishing. Look for deer, wading birds, and other wildlife. Open from dawn to dusk. There’s a parking fee for out-of-county vehicles, so you might plan to make your visit more than just a single cache run. Go fishing. Have a picnic.
THE TEAM
This is the first cache placed by the geocaching team Free Running Nuts. Special thanks to gatoller who helped greatly in prototyping the puzzle.
You can check your answers for this puzzle on GeoChecker.com.
Right-click and print the puzzle, then cut out the pieces.
Good news! If you have a smart phone, and you can't easily print and cut out a puzzle AND you can click a link for a web browser, there's a Jigidi jigsaw version of this puzzle here: https://www.jigidi.com/s/1U7YRR
Put that together, then look at the finished puzzle carefully, and see if you can figure it out. I think that way's harder. But give it a shot!
Please don't post spoiler photos, videos, etc., of my caches. if you have problems with the location, contact me.
