There are signs in this area that gave a number of quotes about the 49 Square Miles that define San Francisco. Recent construction removed the signs closest to the cache. I hope they will be cleaned and returned, but at least walk around the public access and read the others. Feel free yo add your own ode with the cache log.
John Steinbeck compared San Francisco to a Golden Handcuff. Others have written poetic odes to the city. When you come here, take the time to read what people have said about this town: from Caen to Kipling to Wilde.
Careful now.
We're dealing here with a myth.
This city is a point upon a map of fog;
Lemuria in a city unknown.
Like us,
It doesn't quite exist.
- Ambrose Bierce |
You might want to linger here just a bit. To sit down and look at the old ferries and Treasure Island. On a warm day, people might come here to eat lunch. So use appropriate judgment and do not be in a hurry if you have to wait.
Isn't it nice that people who prefer Los Angeles to San Francisco live there?
- Herb Caen |
You will not find the quotes on this page at the cache location - but if you take time to read what you find here, it may be easier to understand the hint and the title. If the writers that you find here inspire you, please leave your own thoughts - original or a favorite quote - when you enter your log on this page.
I wasn't born there, perhaps I'll die there. There's no place left to go -- San Francisco
- Eric Burdon |
Please note that there is no need to disturb any flower or vegetation,
The hint should not be needed but it will get you near the cache, in the right direction of the the most likely hides.
