Geocache Description:

A little house on a hill overlooking the lake. The remains of someone's American dream.

I stumbled upon this little homestead while out scouting in preparation for the upcoming trail mix event. I'd just left a cache back a ways, and had just mentioned to DJHobby the "Murphy's Rule of Cache Placement". That is, as soon as you place one and think you've found the coolest spot, sure enough, you'll find a cooler spot! Soooo... after finding this place the cache was retrieved and this spot gets one. Not much left of this little cottage except the foundation. You can see where the hearth was, as well as the stone porch. Sure must have been cozy! The foundation is really well built, though. Couldn't find any trace of the structure. You're in for either a fairly brutal climb if you come up from Redhawk's "Base-ic cache", or a long gradual climb if you're coming from the area of the spill way. Either way, when you get up here, you're REALLY up here. There's some good starter loot in here, though I can't believe I forgot the sardines and gray poupon mustard! There's a couple trackables to start out with. If anyone gets up here before the TrailMix event I'd hope they'll leave those for the group to discover and move on.
In any event, thanks for looking.
Oh, please be sure to set everything back up the way you find it after you enjoy a patriotic moment at the site of someone's American Dream.
Thanks!
