Team☢aky: It would appear that some one has taken a disliking to my caches #3 gone missing and counting.
With mixed feelings about Geocaching at the moment, I have decided to archive this cache and open up the area for another cacher to have a go at hiding a cache
I hope that all that have found this cache have enjoyed finding it as much as I’ve enjoyed reading you logs

Geocache Description:

Cache is a 1 lt camo painted container

Welcome to Oakydogs Geocache

"Tails" of a time long gone
This is Oakydogs second cache located in Arthurs Seat State Park on a not very well known walking track called Friends Track which links O.T dam track with Arthurs Seat Rd & Cloud St.
The cache has recently been renamed and moved away from some ruins. Possibly dating back as far as 1874. And may have been owned by Henry Barnard SIMON who the nearby Simons creek is named after.
Known to locals as Simon the Frenchman, a very colorful character who according to local folklore once lived in a hollowed out tree on the side of Arthurs seat
Another theory is it belonged to nearby gold workings that were operating as late as the 1960

The cache is slightly off the walking track so PLEASE tread gently around GZ as not to disturb site
If you spot what’s left of a time long gone, please treat site with respect as it could hold significant value to the local history
Enjoy the area and remember to leave no trace

If you want the shortest option to this cache head down Quarry access road (walkers are allowed on this road) until you reach Friends track which crosses road and takes you right past GZ Just be mindful of quarry trucks during the week You can also continue on this road to” Oaky’s half way down” GC225J0

The majority of this park has been identified as 'high bushfire risk' and will be closed for public safety on days of Code Red (Catastrophic) Fire Danger Rating.
