Nakotne, kas padomju laika skaitijas kolhozs-miljonars, un ta vards
bija pazistams ari arpus PSRS robežam, jo tieši
šeit tika ieguti udelu tauki, kas tika plaši

teiktu, ka sociala programma darbojas simts divprocentigi efektivi.
Laikam tapec Nakotnes iedzivotajiem vienmer bija stimuls dzivot un
stradat šeit. Parvakties neviens netaisas ari šodien.
Sludinajumu par majoklu pardošanu nav, bet ja tie paradas,
tad dzivokli uzreiz tiek izpirkti – ir pietiekami daudz
cilveku, kas velas dzivot ciema. Un tas ir neskatoties uz to, ka
majoklu cenas šeit ir tadas pašas ka Jelgava.
Nakotne dzivo aptuveni tukstotis cilveku, bet visa pagasta -
aptuveni 3000. Ciema ir piecas izglitibas iestades, kulturas
centrs, moto trase, sporta zale, publiska pirts, vairaki veikali un
daudz kas cits.

If someone tells you that Latvia has no future - do
not believe. There is, besides it’s only an hour's drive from
Riga – in village Nakotne, that in Soviet times was
considered farm-millionaire, and it’s fame went far beyond
the Soviet Union boarders. Right here oil of mink was extracted,
that was widely used in the French cosmetics to create anti-wrinkle
creams.
The Cache:
The cache is small size Lock&Lock container that contains
logbook, pencil, pencil sharpener and also some exchange
items.
The Location:
Village Nakotne is located in district of Jelgava, Gludas parish.
Gludas parish is situated in Zemgale’s lowland.
In the farms here were grown livestock, cultivated and developed
excellent beetroot. From here top-notch roots were taken for
processing to Jelgava, where until recently worked a sugar
factory.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, when many farms ceased to
exist, Nakotne still remained afloat, probably because workers were
well motivated.
Farmers knew that after a good work by the end of the year they
could receive a bonus in amount of 10 monthly salaries. In general,
as we would say now, a social program operated for one hundred
percent. Perhaps that is why the residents of Nakotne always had an
incentive to live and work here. Even now no seeks to leave. Here
is no housing for sale, and if it appear, then the apartments are
immediately bought – there’s a lot of people who want
to live in the village. But the housing prices in the village are
the same as in Jelgava.
About a thousand people live in Nakotne, throughout the parish -
about 3’000. They have five educational institutions,
cultural centre, moto-track, gymnasium, public baths, several shops
and much more.

It is recommended to visit the cache during the daytime, because
than You will have the opportunity to make some nice pictures. But
if You’re not into that kind of stuff than it’s OK to
visit the cache during the night-time as well.
