This cache is part of a series intended to showcase
Wisconsin’s Rustic Roads (W.R.R.). Wisconsin Legislature
established the Rustic Roads program in 1973 to preserve what
remains of Wisconsin's scenic, lightly traveled roads.
These caches are usually hidden in the right of way at a spot of
notable beauty with no bushwhacking required. Please be respectful
of private property, protected lands, and the overall history of
the area. Take your time, mind your speed, and most of all…
enjoy your journey along the road less traveled.
This particular cache is a pill bottle hidden along Rustic Road 52,
a partially paved, partially gravel road in Washington and Ozaukee
Counties. The Rustic Road is made up of a series of roads including
parts of Paradise Drive, Wausaukee Road, Washington Drive, St.
Augustine Road, Knollwood Drive, and Blue Goose Road where the
cache is placed. Total length is 6.7 miles.
This wooded, rural road is located in one of the highest points in
Washington County and offers a scenic panorama of the surrounding
countryside. There are several historical buildings and farmsteads
including a log home and an old fieldstone house dating to the late
1800’s. While on Blue Goose and St. Augustine roads in
Ozaukee County, travelers will go past portions of the Cedarburg
Bog State Natural Area - one of the largest and most biologically
diverse wetland areas in Wisconsin.
Please be respectful of private property and take care with
retrieving and replacing the cache to save the experience for the
next cacher. Happy hunting!
****CONGRATS to lobsters9494 on being the FTF!
