Geocache Description:

This is the third in my series on interesting churches. Another micro.

This church was chosen for two reasons, one for the fabulouse mosaics on the walls of one of the building. Secondly it is a church building in the orthodox style.

You can see the traditional square shape of the building in comparison to the rectangular or cross shaped traditional churches of the west. In addition, while the metal crosses on the top are the same as western crosses, you can see eastern crosses picked out in bricks on the walls of the church proper showing the tablet displaying the charge over Jesus' head. A full orthodox cross will also have an angled bar at the base of the cross that symbolises a foot step. Finally the roof is adorned with onion domes.

This campus also contains a memorial for famine in the Ukraine and a small museum.
