When I was young,marbles were the #1 game in our community;especially in our schools.My big brother was the Marble King,unbeatable,merciless,in his game.Like the star quarter back or the sharp shooter or the king of the castle;everyone wanted their shot at dethroning the marble King...
But,it never happened and losing your marbles to the King was humiliating,humbling,a sad sight....
You could always tell when someone came into the class and fell victim to the King:HIS BIG SMILE AND THEIR TEARFUL LOOK;especially if you lost a prized cat-eye or a patate!!!
I still love the look,the feel,the glitter,the attraction of marbles;and so do many children of all ages...
Recently,I have read 2 articles in the newspaper about marbles returning to the home and school environment.
I think it's a good idea for today's generation...
