Geocache Description:

The cache is a flat "palatka style" cache covered by black duct tape, approximately 4x8 cm. Watch out for mugglers. I suspect the penetration of balcony mugglers will increase significantly when spring arrives.

Sommeridyll i Kværnerbyen:

ENG: On Kværners old premises in Lodalen the new neighborhood ”Kværnerbyen” is now under construction. Originally, the plan was to construct 1600-1800 apartments, in addition to kindergarten, offices, restaurants and other commercial activities.

The first residents moved in in the autumn of 2007. At the same time, a nice water surface was also constructed. During 2008 a kindergarten and a local store was also opened.

As of January 2010 some 300 apartments have been completed, and the next phase is being planned. See http://www.kvaernerbyen.no/ (sorry – Norwegian only) for additional information about the construction works.

Kværner Brug was established in Lodalen in 1853, and produced various cast iron products, machineries and construction material. Many of the workers at Kværner
settled in the hillsides above Lodalen, among other places in Arctanderbyen (Norways first garden suburb – see also GC1QZBQ Ribbungparken) and the wooden houses in Valhallveien.

Kværners operations in Lodalen was discontinued in 1999.
