Geocache Description:

A cache in tribute to a very special  "wall", close to the University of Toulouse-Capitole called "Arsenal" and the Administrative Centre!
Since medieval times and the devastating  rides of Black Prince, son of Edward III of England, the walls were rebuilt.

The direct threat of Charles V on the city in 1536 prompted François I to resume the building of fortifications under the inspection of military engineers.

Tours and "courtines" (= walls connecting two towers) alternated with a dozen doors on both banks of the Garonne.

Lacking military utility, the ramparts were destroyed in 1823.
This fragment was preserved because it acted as a boundary wall for "Arsenal".

Happy  Geocaching!
