The Halles, or covered market, was built in the Pure Baltard style, in a mixture of metal, cast iron and glass. For a city with 38,000 inhabitants it was one of the largest markets in France. With an area of 60 m X 42 m and 297 places rented out to stallholders, its design was already futuristic. (Market open every day – large market on Saturday)
