Geocache Description:

Welcome to the little Washington city of Deer Park.

Deer Park took its roots in 1889 when William H. Short and George Crawford set up a portable sawmill in a thickly timbered area north of Spokane. The mill would exist for 81 years, with its first permanent structure erected in 1892.

The area was heavily wooded and had an abundance of whitetail deer. Railroad workers dubbed the site a veritable "deer park."

Deer Park was officially incorporated as a city on June 24, 1908.
