The Hancock area is another Waushara County civil town that
formerly had a different name. The Town of Sylvester was officially
introduced to Waushara County in November of 1855. The name was
changed to Hancock in 1856.
The posted coordinates will take you downtown, next to the
public library where a school bell is on display from the old
Hancock School. On the marker you will locate what year the bell is
from. Let the year be established as ABCD. Do not use the year that
the marker was erected.
The final coordiates are located at N 44 0(C).(C)(D+3)9 W 089
3(A-1).(A)(B-4)1.
This series is being developed to call attention to interesting
tidbits from the history of Waushara County. While multicaches are
sometimes frowned upon by some cachers, I am hoping that these
multicaches will be viewed as fairly easy to navigate. My intent is
to pass some interesting information on to the cacher and for them
to find the cache without too much difficulty.
