Geocache Description:

Egen Kirke

English

The oldest part of Egen Church was constructed in the 1100s. At a burial mound southeast of the choir in the late Middle Ages there was raised a bell tower of oak. It is very common for churches on Als that there is no church tower. Around the mound there is placed memorials to the many sons of the parish who fell in German service during World War I. Outside the cemetery's north gate, at the parking coordinate, lies the beautiful church barn, built in the 1700s. Church stables were used for the confinement of churchgoers’ horses during Church service.

Parks by the cache coordinate.
