Geocache Description:

A get together to celebrate 10 Years of Geocaching

On May the 3rd 2000 Dave Ulmer hid the first Geocache in the United States. There are now over 1,000,000 caches across the world. In light of this special occasion and also the fact that there are a lot of new cachers in Port Lincoln and surrounding areas we wanted to host our first event. It is designed to give people a chance to meet and put faces to names, swap some stories and also for those who want take part in a competition.

The listed coordinates will take you to a nearby park. There are public toilets, BBQ facilities (1 BBQ plus we will have extra available), Playground, Limited tables and chairs. Meet at 10:00am and for those wanting to take part in the competition finishing around 4:30pm. BYO Lunch and drinks. There is a service station nearby but best to be prepared. As this event is aimed at meeting the requirements of a 10 year event we must have a photo taken with at least 10 people. This will be explained in further detail on the day. We will take the photo at approximately 10:30am.

For those who wish to participate in the competition it will begin after the photo and conclude at 4:00pm with time off for lunch in the middle. You as the attendees will be setting the competition for your fellow cachers so you decide how easy or how hard it will be.

Every team will be given one or two containers which are theirs to hide within the defined boundaries. This will happen between 10:30am and 12:00pm. After this we will return have a shared lunch and then teams will go out to find the caches at 1:00pm. You will have until 3:00pm to find as many as you can. All teams must return back to GZ with the caches that they hid by 3:30pm.

The aim is to have fun and enjoy yoursleves. Whilst it is a competition dont stress if you have not been involved in this type of Geocaching event. All will be explained on the day and we encourage you to take part. The competition is not mandatory. There will be a few more surprises that we will advise on the day.

If you plan to attend then please log a will attend with the number of adults and children attending. If you have any questions then please feel free to send us an Email. Also watch this listing so that you are aware of any changes and new information. We look forward to seeing as many people as possible even you can only make it for a short time.
