Mighty oaks help Latvians to love their fatherland. They are our symbols, they are source or our inspiration and power, our poweroaks! Urged by their love for trees, Latvians keep finding new, unseen grand oaks, record-breakers in thickness, leafage, and tallness. Vidriži parish record-breaker is Age Grand oak. Landlord of "Medni" Karlis Šmits found and cleaned from bushes the oak in 2005. Age Grand oak grows on the steep bank of Age river with part of its roots stretching towards water. Branches of the oak split of the bole already from the 1,1 m height and expand across the Age river in all it’s magnificence. The oak is growing and its leafy crown is in very good condition. Bole girth P=4,97m, height H=16m, crown projection S=250 m2, age 250 years. Look for a small food container which contains logbook and pencil. At the end of the logbook additional hint for the activists.
