Geocache Description:

A cache to celebrate the work of 'Cleadon in Bloom'. The co-ordinates are for parking on Front Street a short walk from GZ.

The cache is within the box planting that features in the 14 pavement planters that the council and Cleadon in Bloom have provided. But which one?

Cleadon in Bloom are an active group seeking to improve the village (and win a coveted Gold Medal). Each year, along with South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council, they seek to have a good floral display organising hanging basket workshops and helping public areas look their best.

The Council put a lot of effort into their gardening and each spring there is a wonderful display of bulbs in the verges of the borough. From the Summer of 2009 until the Summer of 2010 a floral windmill was at the far end of Front Street from the parking co-ordinates, representing the windmill on Cleadon Hills. This was replaced with an amended version for the 2010 judging.

September 2010 - it was announced Cleadon had won Silver Gilt in the Northumbria in Bloom 2010 competition.

September 2011 - it was announced Cleadon had again won Silver Gilt in the Northumbria in Bloom competition.

The cache is a small clear lock and lock box so there is space for small travel bugs as well as the log and a short pencil.

The co-ordinate for the parking has all the right digits, but not necessarily in the right order, (as two comedians once said!) to lead you to the cache itself.

It is in full view of muggles, and Front Street has the shops of the village, so there are often passers-by. Stealth!
