This cache is easy to reach by 1 hour walk from Ohiya railway station. We have started this tour by 7:50 morning train from Haputale (1431 m). We arrived 8:30 AM to Ohiya (1774 m), crossed the rail road, got a breakfast and some lunch parcels. 3-wheelers and some rooms are her for those who missed the last train or like to start early morning. This few shops here are the last chance to get some food, drinks and other needs.
Ohiya railway station, sign boards and cable car house.
Follow the road behind the railway station next 650 m to a hindu temple. After another 1350 m comes a junction. Right side up goes over Horton Plains to Pottipola and Nuwara Eliya. Horton Plains National Park is there on the top plateau with famous places like World´s End and Baker Falls. Also the 2nd and 3rd highest mountains Kirigalpota and Tottapola. Lot of Sambar deers, monkeys, wild pigs and leopards can be seen there. The road to the left goes up to Udaveriya estate.
Follow this left road next 1.2 km to a broken house. Locals told us this building has been bought some years ago with the idea to build a cable car but nothing happens so far. Infront of the right side of this building starts a path in the forest. Hereafter follow the additional hints. Down under the cache point is Udaveriya village with two old tea factories, a pond, some colonial buildings and tea plucker houses. One of our favourite high valleys of Sri Lanka.
This stump shall help you. Read the hint.
We have changed our cache location in February 2011 to hide a big box. The small film box is still at the old coordinates for all those players who didn´t get this update in time. The new final box is bigger, contains a log book, welcome message, ball pen and some small trade items. Please upload images from your tour. We wish you a happy day.
One of our children is worried about Jimmy-Blue. He is a hungry beatle with blue wings, white body and yellow dots. Jimmy likes to travel to one of our next caches. If somebody will find him?
