[ENG] Cache is small PET container with logbook and pencil only. May require wading or swimming (or using a boat), it depends on where you will choose to cross the river.
[LAT] Irbes upe veidojas, satekot Stendei un Rindai, kuras plust no Ziemelkursas augstienes. Upes garums no sateces vietas lidz grivai Baltijas juras Irbes shauruma ir 33 km. Irbes upe atrodas Piejuras zemiene, 15km plust paraleli jurai, savdabiga seno kapu (kangaru) un purvainu pazeminajumu (vigu) ainava. Plustot paraleli jurai labaja krasta atrodas Ances Dizhpurvs. Aiz Lielirbes tilta upes kreisaja krasta lidz jurai kopsh 2004.gada izveidots Ovishu dabas rezervats, kura aizliegtas jebkadas aktivitates, iznemot pastaigas pa pludmali, no 1.maija lidz 1.septembrim.
Slepnis izvietots mezha masiva pie Irbes kapam netalu no Mikjeltornja. Shii vieta ir ieverojama ar to, ka te krasta kapas ir atsegtas vairaku simtu metru garuma, upei metot slaidu loku.
Ar draugiem censhamies atlicinat laiku ikgadejam nobraucienam pa kadu upi. Pec ilgaka partraukuma turpinam tradiciju un pirmo reizi laivojam pa Irbi no Irbenes lokatora lidz jurai. Sho marshrutu (pec GPS raadiijumiem 27,1km) ar piepushamajam gumijas laivam kopuma pieveicam 8 stundaas. Upes griva ir izveidotas vairakas atputas vietas ar galdiem, soliem un ugunskura vietam un tai ir salidzinoshi erta piebraukshama ar automashinu.
[ENG] In company with friends we have a nice tradition to have a boat trip once a year. This year we have chosen the Irbe river (33km, slope 5,5m) in Kurzeme. The Irbe is a slow-moving river with many shoals that frequently shift and many tributaries. The Irbe flows 15 kilometres almost parallel to the sea (left bank), and the Dizpurvs swamp is parallel to the shoreline (right bank). The river rambles along sandy dunes of seaside and is by best mean's different from other river of Latvia. Last 5km of the river are wide and drift. Since 2004 left bank of the river starting from Lielirbe bridge until the sea belongs to the Ovisi nature reserve. Every human action is prohibited here from May 1 to September 1., exception is walking on the beach.
Starting near from radar facility of Irbene, passing Mikeltornis (with Mikelbaka beacon - the highest one in Baltics - 62m), and finishing at Irbe outfall where river forms 2 km long sand stripe. This is recommended as two day trip for admirers of hardly reachable routes. We were lucky to make it (27km) by inflatable boats just in 8 hours.
The cache is placed around one of the most spectacular places - the Irbe dune (~300m long and more than 10m high) near Mikeltornis.
