Bufo calamita Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Leptoceratops: Hello!
I'm archiving your cache as it has been disabled for more than a one month and it is lost, completely damaged or inappropriate. Caches should be visited and maintained within 30 days after disabling.
Archiving a geocache is meant to be a permanent action. If a cache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance, it will not be unarchived.

If there are still leftovers from container I would appreciate if other players could collect them so that there is no trash in the nature.

Happy geocaching!

Geocache Description:

Cache is a regular container, holding logbook, pencil, some goods for exchange, hidden not far from Bene, Auce municipality.

This cache is dedicated to Bufo calamita - an animal that is included in Latvian Red book. At the cache place You have the highest possibility in Latvia to see this animal in the nature, additionaly there is one intresting object, we have never seen where else in Latvia.
Bufo calamita is a small approximately 6 cm tall animal, that lives in sand dunes, glades of pine forests, gardens, parks, fields, sand and gravel quarries and meadows. In the daytime it hides in heaps of stones, in sandy soil and under debris.
This animal lives for up to 15 years and feeds on insects, worms and small reptiles. At night it moves along open terrains with very sparse vegetation and in loose sand the tracks can often be seen. They move along considerable distances each night, which enables the species to colonize new habitats very quickly.
During night You can observe this animal running, as the legs are too small for jumping. So it is possible to mix up this animal with mouse.
Can You guess what it is?
