Lookout Mountain is the site of a former forest service lookout
built in the 1930's. It is long gone with only a few signs of it's
former glory. There is still a surveyers mark, and we did find one
old anchor, but from the information we have there was only a cabin
and no tower.
What is currently there is a radio relay tower with a good road to
the gate which even your mothers Oldsmobile could navigate to. From
the gate up it gets a little bumpy but still as fire lookouts go
this is an easy to get to area. Best access is road 4245.
While in the area go over and visit Joe at Round Mountain LOT. Make
sure you bring him 2 beers as we forgot to take him one while we
were placing this cache.
Views to the north are fantastic, make sure you bring your camera.
