   Black Pond

The natural reservation "Cerný rybník" is situated in a cadastral area called "Klíny II" which is about 4.5km southwest from a "Fláje" dam and 1km north from a village "Klíny". It is positioned to the left from a road that goes from the village "Klíny" to the "Fláje" dam. The other end is limited by the border with Germany (see the map which was originally printed in the book of J. Kuncová and her team). The focus of the protection of the environment is on the natural character of this moorland which is interesting mostly in hydrological, botanic and faunistic way. The Reservation is spread on the area of 32.5599 hectares and as a protected reservation it was declared 8 November 1993.

In the basement there are crystalline rocks, particularly mica and biotite. Biotite is covered by quaternary organic sediments (by peat). The reservation area is slightly corrugated and is positioned 805 to 815m above the sea-level. The pond "Cerný rybník", itself is spread on the area of 1.0862 hectares 805m above the sea-level. It was founded in the 19th century (probably after 1848) on the water stream "Svídnice" for the purpose of fish breeding. Originally it was named as "Forellenteich" (Trout Pond).
Not only the pond "Cerný rybník" is a part of this reservation but also a large area of marshland measuring 13 hectares can be found there. The marsh is situated to the west of the pond and it is called the marsh at the "Cerný rybník". Depth of the peat varies from 1.75 to 6m. It is a bog of a pan geomorphologic type which changes itself to an overflow type. In the east it is drained off by a nameless right tributary of the water stream "Bílý potok", and in the south by a tributary of the water stream "Svídnice". In the past attempts were made to drain the marshland; we have deep drainage ditches covered by dwarf pines for evidence. Products of the restoration are also smaller water areas in the nearby of the pond.

   Cerný rybník

Prírodní rezervace Cerný rybník se nachází na katastrálním území Klíny II, asi 4,5 km jihozápadne od vodní nádrže Fláje a 1 km severne od Klínu. Rozprostírá se vlevo od silnice Klíny - Fláje až ke státní hranici se SRN, viz mapka (prevzata z knihy J. Kuncové a kol.). Predmetem ochrany je prirozený charakter hydrologicky, botanicky i faunisticky zajímavého rašelinište vrchovištního typu. Rezervace zabírá území o rozloze 32,5599 ha a byla vyhlášena 8. listopadu 1993.

V podloží jsou horniny krušnohorského krystalinika, zastoupené dvojslídnou a biotitickou pararulou. Pararula je prekryta ctvrtohorními organickými sedimenty (rašelinou). Území rezervace je jen mírne zvlnené: leží v nadmorské výšce 805-815 m. Vlastní Cerný rybník o rozloze 1,0862 ha leží v nadmorské výšce 805 m. Byl založen na potoce Svídnici k chovu ryb v 19. století, asi po roce 1848, a puvodne byl oznacován jménem Forellenteich (Pstruhový rybník).
Soucástí rezervace je nejen samotný Cerný rybník, ale predevším rozsáhlé rašelinište o rozloze 13 ha, ležící západne od neho. Literatura jej nazývá rašeliništem U Cerného rybníka. Mocnost rašeliny zde dosahuje 1,75 až 6 m. Je to vrchovište pánevního typu, které prerustá v typ rozvodný. Na východ je odvodnováno bezejmenným pravostranným prítokem Bílého potoka, smerem na jih prítokem Svídnice. V minulosti byly cineny pokusy o odvodnení rašelinište; svedcí o tom hluboké odvodnovací príkopy porostlé klecí. Produktem rekultivacních zásahu jsou i menší vodní plošky v okolí rybníka.
