Geocache Description:

This cache is located at Lynwood Cemetery on the west edge of Clarksville. This is a salute to our Dad who has worked for the City of Clarksville for over 35 years. In 2010, he has buried over 1000 graves in this cemetery.

Permission was given by Jeff Kolb, City council member.

In 1883, the city fathers had the land surveyed and established the cemetery. The cemetery contained an area of forty-three acres and was purchased from Lewis Slimmer for the sum of $1,000.00. It is owned and operated by the city and has had excellent care through the years. Prominent features at the cemetery include the Perrin oblish and Root-Slimmer mausoleum in the center of the original cemetery. The first person buried in these grounds was Daniel, a son of Dr. A.F.
Tichenor on April 3,1878. His death occurred before the grounds were platted.
