Geocache Description:

This is #2 in the Santa Marina Geowalk. The ‘Geowalk’ consists of 9 caches taking you on a 4 km circular walk mostly on track with just a small part ‘off piste’. If you collect the caches in sequence, starting with #1, the walk should take you just over an hour. All 9 of the caches are fairly easy to find. They vary in size from small to regular. As always in Cyprus, make sure you take plenty of water with you to drink and beware of snakes

Santa Marina was a great martyr who endured countless tortures through the strength of her faith and
converted many to Christianity in the process.
The daughter of a pagan man in the 3rd century whose mother died at birth, she was brought up by a Christian
woman and took a vow never to marry. She was imprisoned, tortured and finally beheaded for refusing to
marry the king but continued to preach and pray to the very end.
500 years ago, a Venetian family built a chapel devoted to Santa Marina in the Limassol village of Pareklissia.
This chapel was lovingly restored from its ruins by the Elias family and is maintained as an integral part of the
Santa Marina Retreat where it stands proudly to remind all that any physical or mental obstacle can be
overcome
