When: Wednesday 18th August from 6pm until 11pm.
Where: The
Shoulder of Mutton, Calverton, Milton Keynes, MK19 6ED. 01908
562183.
The Shoulder of Mutton prides itself on its fine selection of
ales, beers and wines, delicious home-style pub meals.
Dinner can be ordered from 6pm to 9pm.
The pub has a small car park in front, and a large car park
directly behind. The landlady requests we use the rear car park if
possible.
The village of Calverton is hidden gem just outside Milton
Keynes. Nestled in picturesque Buckinghamshire countryside, yet
only minutes from the busy metropolis, and just off the main A5
road, you feel like you've been transported into the rural
countryside miles from anywhere.
As this date in the middle of the school holidays, I selected
this pub as several footpaths are within easy reach on foot, and
has a children's play area with climbing frame. The XBOXCrew junior
members are likely to attend during the early evening.
The pub is on the route of a 4 mile circular walk, should anyone
wish to attempt it. Click here for details.
I plan to publish some new caches within walking distance for
the event. I'm hoping to create new two circular walks (shorter
that the existing 4 mile one). A short one, for those with little
legs, and a longer one, for those with bigger strides.
Why: Ask Alibags - she made me do it.
Who: Well, anyone is welcome, but we expect most people
will be from Beds, Bucks and Herts. Car and Bicycle parking
available.
What: This is the thirty second of an ongoing series of
monthly, mid-week-ish regular events at various locations handy for
natives of the three counties to talk caching, plan expeditions and
(have Alison) decide who's organising the next one.
