The cache is a magnetic nano cache containing a log sheet, bring your own pen to sign it! The cache is placed two thirds of the way up the path to the waterfall, so when you find it, continue on the path to enjoy the waterfall. Best viewed on a rainy day when the falls are in full flow!
This cache will take you to a hidden treasure in the North Donegal countryside, the Glenevin Waterfall. Tumbling down into a funnel shape solid rock pool below from a height of around 30 feet.
With scenery conjuring comparisons with Tolkien's shire, footbridges criss-crossing the stream leading to the waterfall and stepping stones for the adventurous, this is a great place for a walk with the kids. The route to the waterfall is well signposted, there are a number of smaller waterfalls on the climb to the top.
There are picnic areas available to stop at as you climb to the area of the waterfall, though the climb is not strenuous, you can go at your own pace and enjoy the surroundings. If you are hungry you can stop at the Tea Rooms as you enter the park, they do a great all-day Irish breakfast with tea and toast!
Please be careful when uncovering the cache, muggles can come up to the cache site behind you so please be discreet when taking out the cache and hiding it again. Nearby is Tullagh Bay beach, it’s beautiful and well worth a visit with a few horses for you to feed grass and apples to (bring your own apples!)
Parking is available onsite, you will need to stop and open the metal gate at the side of the road and enter to park your car. I have posted co-ordinates to the car park as a waypoint.
This cache is dedicated to the loving memory of my cat Murphy who passed away on 11/01/2017
Good Luck and enjoy your trip to the Waterfall!
