Gerolsteiner Maar und Lavagrube "Kasselburger Hahn"

In der Eifel heißt jede Grube in der vulkanisches Material abgebaut wird "Lavagrube", egal ob solider Basalt oder vulkanische Lockermassen gewonnen werden.
Auch in der Lavagrube am "Kasselburger Hahn", so heißt der Hügel hier vor dem wir stehen,wurden bis vor etwa 20 Jahren noch vulkanische Aschen und Schlacken abgebaut.
Noch heute erkennt man im unteren Bereich der aufgelassenen Grube,schwarzes vulkanisches Material.Es handelt sich hierbei um basaltische Aschen und Schlacken.
Darüber lagern nach Süden hin,braune bis graue Maarablagerungen, die überwiegend aus kalkigen und sandig-erdigen Gesteinsbruchstücken bestehen.
Bemerkenswert ist eine schwarze,harte Bank aus miteinander verbackenen Basaltlavafetzen.
Es stellt sich hier die Frage wo sich das zu den Maarablagerungen zugehörige Maar befindet.
Es liegt in der kesselfömigen Geländeeindellung südlich von hier.
Das Gerolsteiner Maar hat einen Durchmesser von gut 500 m und ist heute etwa 30 m tief.
Es handelt sich um ein verlandetes Maar mit Schichten von rot-braunen und schwarzen sandigen Sedimenten,die von Eisen und Mangan rührten.
Gehe zu den angegebenen Koordinaten und studiere die Informationstafel in der Nähe.

The "Gerolsteiner Maar" has a diameter of about 500 m and a deepth of about 30 m.
It is a silty maar with layers of reddish-brown and black sandy deposits,that comes from Iron and Manganese.
