Comme l'église Saint-Martin d'Unac , cette église avait fait partie d'une donation en 1076 du comte de Foix Roger II à l'abbaye bourguignonne de Cluny.

Puis, elle fut reconstruite au XIIe siècle alors qu'elle appartenait à la riche et puissante abbaye audoise de Lagrasse.

Elle est classée Monument Historique depuis 1907.
