How Geocaching Works

This is a very pleasant circular route, consisting of 10 caches, in the area of Swanton Abbott, in North Norfolk. All the caches are easy to find, and the route is about 2.5 miles and should take approximately 2 hours to complete.
This circular walk is in two separate parts. The first part is mainly on public footpaths, and you will encounter many pheasants on this part of the trail (hence the title). We did notice while setting the trail this evening that the gamekeeper feeds the pheasants an hour before dusk. So if you want to avoid a scene from Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, you might want to pick a different time of the day to go caching! The paths are muddy in parts, and it is possible that some areas could become boggy after heavy rain, so waterproof boots would be advised. You might want to take in ‘Swanton Abbott 1’ at the start of this trail if you have not previously found that cache.
The second part - ‘Back On The Road Again’- is wholly along narrow country roads. Although these lanes are relatively quiet, dogs would need to be on leads.
This is a small camouflaged tube. We have not included pens/pencils in any of the caches so please be sure to bring your own.
Once again, if you see us out walking with our two collies, please say Hi. It’s nice to put faces to the names!!
