Geocache Description:

An easy to find traditional Cache...

The Airport of Cheb is one of the oldest in the Czech Republic.
Built in 1916 during the monarchy, the airport was used as a military airfield until 1938. The Flying School stationed at Cheb was a famoues one.

The Airport was used by the German Airforce as an alternate aerodrome from 1939 until 1945. During that time, the airport also was the hombase of the Eger Aircraft Manufactury. They produced Bomber, Fighter and the Me 262 "Schwalbe" - one of the first jetfighter in the world.
The Manufactory was destroyed during an american bomb attack.

Today the airport is home of the Ultralight Club Cheb.

This cache is to give you a chance to visit the cheb airport and to make yourself familiar with the airport and its history...
