CNJC Cache to Eagle Series-Thrifty Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: From the Northern Region Office, New Jersey State Parks Department:

Over a year ago New Jersey enacted a policy that all geocachers must obtain a permit to have their cache on State Park property. We have informed all geocaching host that this is their responsibility and have given them ample time to go about getting their permits. At this time, over a year later, there are still several caches that haven’t complied.

We ask that as the land managers for the attached properties we would like to have these illegal caches removed.

Based on the list provided by the state, I am forced to archive this listing. If you have a permit, get a permit or don't believe your cache is on state park/forest land, please contact me via email. Make sure you include the GC code.

If you don't plan to get a permit, please remove your geocache so it doesn't become geo-trash.

Geocache Description:

This is one in a series of caches sponsored by Boy Scout Leaders in Central New Jersey Council BSA that will feature Eagle projects.

Eagle is the highest rank that a boy can earn in scouts. He has to complete at least 21 merit badges (12 specific required ones and 9 others of his choosing). He also has to hold a position of leadership in the troop for at least 6 months, plus plan and carry out a service project that benefits either a religious or community organization. Many of these projects exceed 100 man-hours to complete. The scout has to fund-raise to pay for this also.
There will be a total of 13 caches in the series. The first 12 will be named for the 12 points of the Scout Law: "A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent". The 13th cache will be a puzzle cache. There is a clue in each of the first 12 that taken together will give you the co-ordinates of the final cache. As you visit each of the caches, be sure to collect the clue in each one so that you can gather the co-ordinates for the final puzzle cache. These all will be coming out soon. Completion of the whole series will enable you to purchase a special patch designed for our council to commemorate this series.

This cache is located in Stephens State Park near an Eagle Project built by Cody of Troop 158. He built the steps that lead from the corner of the parking lot down to the river. The project took well over 120 hrs to complete.
