Geocache Description:

The 'Dinky'* or 'Princeton Train' has become an unofficial symbol of Princeton University cherished by many due to its uniqueness, and the fact that the Princeton terminal lies in the middle of the university campus.

Many Princetonians however do not know that The "Dinky" ride is the shortest scheduled railroad trip in the United States!

The 'Princeton Dinky' ** is the name given to the small train that travels the 3 miles (4.5 km) between the Princeton campus and Princeton Junction (the only two stations), connecting on to main line trains to New York and Philadelphia.

Over the years it has been portrayed in a number of works e.g. "She Loves Me Not" (1934 with Bing Crosby), Fitzgerald's "This side of Paradise" and the TV program "Family Ties".

The "Dinky" was also famously the scene of "The Great Dinky Robbery" where in 1963 a group of Princeton University students ambushed the train as it was pulling in to Princeton Junction as a prank.
