Geocache Description:

Since the cache is located on a SFO-playground, there will be much Muggler activity on weekdays between 11 and 17 and during holidays 7-17. So this cache must be logged after 17 pm or during week-ends.

It is recommended that you bring your own paper and pencil and DO NOT put TBs in the cache as it is regularly emptied by Mugglers.

Sparrow-Hawks

Some years ago we found out, that a pair of sparrow-hawks had a nest in our little forest. Therefore we read little about the sparrow-hawk. It typically breeds in coniferous forest, like ours, and find a new tree every year. With this knowledge, we found out that they had bred in our forests each year for at least six years earlier, BUT WE HAD NOT DISCOVERED IT.
Now as we regularly saw the male sitting and pluck small birds, we heard them call each other and we saw how the male delivered food to the female, away from the nest. We saw how the kids were fed and how they later learned to fly. While 70 children were playing on the playground.

Sparrow-hawks do not hunt near their own nest, but in the neighborhood. Therefore, our forest certainly is the safest place to be for small birds.
You may be lucky enough to get really close to or at least to see or hear Denmark's two smallest birds in the forest: birds king, with his crisp treble voice and the wren, which despite its small size has a very powerful and beautiful song.
