Easy find and great tourist spot. Bring pencil. You can park right next to the cache, but you will have to get out of your car to retrieve it.Someone left a baggie with post-it notes. Ignore it as it is not part of the cache.
Visit an interesting stone and concrete arch constructed by artisans from China. The arch with glazed tiles and as many as 17 layers of gold leaf in some places, was made to honour Ottawa's standing as Canada's national capital and the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and the China. The arch also has a pair of marble lions standing guard at the base of two red pillars holding the structure aloft.
Interesting tidbits:
•A team of 16 Chinese technicians came from Beijing to provide assistance to the construction, decoration and painting of the arch.
•The arch is about 12 metres tall with glazed golden tiles donated by China.
•It follows the traditional Chinese architecture design with many special features.
•5 special metal coins and 5 colour spreads are embedded in the structure as a tradition to bring blessings. The oldest coin was discovered in the Tang Dynasty with over 1000-year history.
