Geocache Description:

Currently, the cache is a bit further from the Anglican church than it used to be. Nevertheless, I am encouraging geocachers to walk extra 200 m and to see the church.

[ENG] This place (see the Additional Waypoints) was favoured by me because it is the border between the cozy and quiet Old Town and the embankment of Daugava which carries a major highway. While on a walk in the Old Town, it can be sobering to get back to the surface of the pond (which is the Old Town), have a glimpse of the large city's chaotic life, and then dive again into the depths of the narrow lanes, where there is no noise to distract you from your thoughts.

Also, by this place there is the Anglican church of Riga which gave name to the cache. I am not the regular attendant of the service, however, I volunteer at the soup kitchen which is held every Saturday in the basement of the church. It is rather rewarding experience - to feed around 100 hungry and often homeless people! Usual meal consists of soup, porridge, 2 pieces of bread, and a mandarin or a piece of banana. All visitors are always very polite and friendly, rarely missing a chance to tell us "Good morning!" before the meal or "Thank you!" after. Some of them speak up to three languages (Latvian, Russian, and English). We also have a piano in the room, and often someone starts to play after the meal.

You are welcome to join the volunteers each Saturday at 10 AM!

There is also a superb bar even closer to the cache hiding place - Aptieka. The owner of the place is from the USA, but his grandfather had a pharmacy on that place where Aptieka ("pharmacy" in Latvian) is now located.
