Geocache Description:

Ludwig Pettifogger proudly presents A beautiful view of lake Stensjön. A cache description in English will follow after the cache discription in Swedish.

Före den stora branden i Tyresta nationalpark 1999 var området öster om Stensjön och nära vandringsleden Fornborgsslingan en viktig spelplats för tjäder. I den gamla och glesa hällmarkstallskogen med många torrakor och goda siktavstånd för att undvika rovdjur har tjäderspel pågått årligen under ett par hundra år i ett område som var 25-35 hektar stort. Numera återfinns rester av tjäderpopulationen i dom områden av nationalparken och naturreservatet som inte påverkades av branden.

Passa gärna på att vandra den sex kilometer långa vandringsleden Fornborgsslingan som går runt Stensjön och passerar den vackra fornborgen Stensjöborg på västra sidan om Stensjön.

The area east of lake Stensjön and close to the path Fornborgsslingan was before the great fire 1999 an important courting area for Wood Grouse. In the old and sparse forest with many dead trees courting had been going on for some two hundred years in a large area. At the present point in time the remaining wood gruse population is found in the parts of the national park not affected by the fire.

While in the area take the opportunity to walk the six kilometres long path Fornborgslingan that circumnavigates lake Stensjön. The path passes the beutiful ancient castle on the west side of lake Stensjön called Stensjöborg. At this place there is a very good view of the aforementiond lake.
