Geocache Description:

my first cache to hide. I'm sure it will be too easy for the pros, but you gotta start somewhere. $1 for first to find. Please re-hide it as found. Thanks

and now a little history...

This cache is located at Castle Field. Originally known as Greenhaven Memorial Field, it was built in 1950 for a total cost of $12,500. Federal Cartridge donated $3,500 of that total, the rest was raised through individual donations and fund raisers. It was quite the impressive facility at the time complete with lights and grandstand. In 1952 the field was re-named Castle Field in memory of Willard "Butch" Castle. He was a well known area athlete and ball player who had died earlier that summer. He was also a big part of the park preparation before it originally opened in 1950.

In 1989, the city had made a deal with a motel developer to build a 50 unit motel on the property and to move the ball field to a location west of the Ice Arena located north of Anoka High School. It is unclear why the deal fell through, but the plan never finalized and the field is still in use as a baseball facility at the entrance of Greenhaven Golf Course.
