Geocache Description:

Fårup Summerland is the story of a dream.
And so begins the story anyway somewhere else, the family Kragelund had for many years operated a wholesale company in Aalborg. In addition to sales to grocery wholesalers, imported and traded industrial salt and chalk exported to Europe and the Middle East.
The hallmark of the company had good business acumen.

Large department stores and chain stores sprang up everywhere in the early 1970s. The required conversion to a new competitive environment, competitors grew. Should you grow with the great, or should we realize a dream, just below the surface?

It was the dream that won. The old company was settled after 115 years of activity for Anders Kragelund had looked into the crystal ball. The families had increased leisure time - longer vacations - and tourism grew into an entire industry. There was apparently a need for a place where family activities were at the center. When to look to developments in the U.S., was the first tentative Danish plans designed.

Immediately, one could argue that the jump was great, but the basic values of the old firm - "customers should have the right product at the right price, delivered on time and with good service, and not least with quality in every detail - could transferred to the incoming Fårup Summerland. Customers were to guests, the product changed the character of an experience. There should be a variety to activities followed by good service, and there should be quality in every detail.

The dream was realized in early 1970, when the location was almost obvious. Amid the Danish summer country's finest scenery with ocean, dunes, heathland and woodland. They chose Fårup between Saltum and Blokhus. It was centrally located for the hopefully many visitors who would visit Fårup from the Danish amusement park. The establishment began in 1974 and 21 June 1975 could park opened its doors. Trampolines, canoes, horses, sandboxes - all for free, if you had paid the entrance fee. Nature was an important part of the park and also gave the guests a feel of a picnic atmosphere.
