Geocache Description:

Butts Park

This property was donated to the City of Jackson by the Dept. of the Interior for recreational purposes. In addition to the driving range, the soccer fields, the cart racing track and the radio controlled aircraft flying field, Butts Park offers an extensive Mountain Bike Trail System. This cache is one in a short series of caches on or near the bike trails at Butts Park so here’s what you’ll need: A mountain bike or hiking equipment and a writing instrument and although this was once the site of the Waterways Experiment Station, all the water is gone so you might want to bring your own drinking water since there isn’t any available near these trails. The park does have restroom facilities, but they are all the way across the park from the trailhead. In addition to mine, there are several other nice caches in the park so be sure to get those while you’re here. There is no entrance fee, but remember the park does close at dark so don’t get locked in. There’s alot of history associated with this site as it was also a German Prisoner of War Camp during WWII.
