Geocache Description:

Zimrovicka skala
The Zimrovice rock

Zimrovicka skala / Zimrovice rock

[EN]
This earthcache invites you to visit a nice rock, which is one of many steps in the Hanuse educational path. If you decide to visit this rock I also recommend visiting the next educational path Marianske udoli which starts from Belaria hotel. You can leave your geo-car in hotel carpark.
Hanuse, Marinske meadow and this Zimrovice rock formed in young paleozoic era. Walks around Hanuse, which comes under Vitkov highlands in the Nizke Jeseniky area, are pleasant in all weather and all seasons. Zimrovice rock is a smaller Silesian version of Blanik hill. According to legends knights sleep inside.. In the past there were six big ponds near the rock, which also has its own legends.

If you want to log this cache, you have to complete next following tasks and send me via email answers for next questions:

1) What is the name of the mountain range which geologicaly belongs to?
2) This region is made of alternating layers. Which layers alternate and what are they cold?
3) What influenced this land in quarternary and what was creatived.
4) Name four trees, four plants and four animals which you can find here?
5) If you stand facing the rock by the information board (primary coordinate) you will see a three digit number to the left in the rock near the ground.
6) What is the angle of the layers which create this rock. +/- 10° under the three digit number?

The site is publicly available.

Earthcache is the most exciting way to learn about the Earth and its processes is to get into the outdoors and experience it first-hand. Visiting an Earthcache is a great outdoor activity the whole family can enjoy. An Earthcache is a special place that people can visit to learn about a unique geoscience feature or aspect of our Earth. Earthcaches include a set of educational notes and the details about where to find the location (latitude and longitude). Visitors to Earthcaches can see how our planet has been shaped by geological processes, how we manage the resources and how scientists gather evidence to learn about the Earth.
