Geocache Description:

Everyone has heard the saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun”. Geocachers have nothing but fun and the time has certainly flown by. It has been ten years since the first Indiana Fall Picnic.

The Fall Picnic Planning Team wanted to celebrate the Picnic’s 10th anniversary in a big way. So, to start with we will be bringing you to one of Indiana’s most beautiful state parks, SPRING MILL.

Beautiful Spring Mill State Park offers visitors many things to do and it does not all involve nature trails and playgrounds. Located in Mitchell, Indiana, the park contains a pioneer village, caves, Astronaut Gus Grissom's memorial and of course hiking trails. There is plenty to keep a family busy for the day at Spring Mill even if the entire family has different interests.

The weekend will begin with a Friday evening Meet and Greet (GC2MY4H). Join the crew in kicking off the weekend. Grab a snack from the nacho bar and spend some time sharing your caching tales. Don't forget your flashlight for the Night Cache.

Saturday’s Fall Picnic will be an entire day and evening of fun, socializing and events. The day’s activities are:

REGISTRATION: "Will Attend" logs on the cache page are encouraged but DOES NOT register you for the day's events. REGISTRATION is requested. Please include everyone on the registration form regardless of age. This information is used during planning and most importantly to create each of you a name tag.

PITCH-IN LUNCH: Everyone is asked to bring a contribution for the pitch-in lunch. Pitch-in contributions will be exchanged for meal tickets.

A pitch-in only works if everyone who eats at the buffet has contributed. Please remember that if you do not contribute to the meal, you will not be given a meal ticket.

If your last name begins with A-R, please bring a homemade side dish. Last names that begin with S-Z, please bring a family size dessert. Food for thought ... Every year we received an overabundance of deli potato salad, cole slaw and macaroni salad. Please consider another option so we don’t have to throw food away.

DONATIONS, PRIZES & RAFFLES: Door prizes will be drawn throughout the day. Donations and contributions are greatly appreciated but not required. Be sure to take a look at our raffle items or take a chance on our 50/50 drawing.

MERCHANDISE: Support the Fall Picnic. The sale of logoed merchandise helps defray the cost of the picnic. For additional information, please see the Fall Picnic website. Deadline for pre-orders is August 10th.

GEO-CHALLENGE (Ages 10-17): Have you wanted to get out there with the Survivor contestants? Here is your chance to get in on the fun. GeoChallenge offers you the opportunity to play a youth version. REGISTRATION is required. Registration deadline is August 31st.

GEO-SURVIVOR (Ages 18+): Are you ready for a challenge? REGISTER to put your name in the hat for a spot on one of the GeoSurvivor teams. GeoSurvivor has always been the Fall Picnic’s premier event. For the brave at heart take a chance and try your hand at some exciting new challenges.

A drawing will be held to determine participants and will be announced at the picnic kick-off on September 10th at 9:45am. Registration deadline is August 31st. All participants MUST be at the picnic kick-off.

CACHERS GOT TALENT: Back by popular demand. Rumor has it some cachers have been planning all year to step up on stage and show their talent at Cacher’s Got Talent (GC2Q486). Talent categories will once again be Caching Limericks, a FTF Dance Competition and an Open Talent Show. Group or individuals are welcome to participate.

LODGING: Local hotels are available in the nearby towns of Mitchell and Bedford. Spring Mill Park has a beautiful campground and Inn. Reservations can be made at the IN.gov Reservations. If you are camping, post your site number on the Geocaching Midwest Forums Fall Picnic post.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The picnic website will provide additional information.

We are looking forward to a fun filled weekend. Can’t wait to see you there.

Please support sponsors of the Indiana Fall Picnic.
