30 April 2011 is International Cache In Trash Out day! Join your fellow IGO members in helping to clean up our playing field! Recently the IGO Board of Directors approved the adoption of sections of highway across the state. This is the first section to be adopted, and the signs will soon read "Iowa Geocachers Organization" (hopefully in time for the event). Twice a year there will be a CITO here, giving geocachers an opportunity to work together to help clean up our state. The clean up is scheduled for 10:00 am. It is estimated that we can have this section cleaned in about two hours. The coordinates are for the parking lot of one of Hinton's parks. We'll shuttle to the adopted highway section, just north of town. Trash bags will be provided, please bring gloves and any special tools you may have for picking up trash. If you have a safety vest, please wear it. We'll try to have some available.
To up the excitement, we're asking cachers who are willing to hide some new caches in the Sioux City area. Please ask our reviewer to schedule their publication for sometime after noon on the day of the events, 30 April 2011. Also, so as not to overwhelm our reviewer at the last minute, please have your caches place and submitted at least a week prior. A note on this event page that you're placing caches would be okay, but we don't need to know just how many. Without knowing just exactly what new caches to expect, we should all have a fun day of FTF opportunities! Please make your caches exciting and of varying sizes and difficulty (we don't want all park-n-grabs, do we?). What a great way to kick off the caching season!
