The Klau-Buena Vista Mine complex extracted mercury from the 1860's until 1970. Not much remains except for some very convincing No Fishing signs. Despite what the sign might say, Cypress Mountain Road continues on unimpeded to Santa Rosa Creek Road above Cambria (weather permitting). There is no cell phone signal here, so download beforehand.
