It's been quite a while since Cedar Rapids has had a FM event.....
HERE WE GO..
IowaGeocachers.Org has designated April 23rd as an official FM date.
So with the IowaGeocachers.Org blessing...I bring you.....PAPER AIRPLANE RACE 2011!
Most of us are all familiar with the flash mob concept...but for those newbies..
A flash mob is a sudden gathering of people, doing something odd, for a 15 minute time period. After the 15 minutes....everyone leaves quickly.
This spring I have chosen a fairly small neighborhood park to converge upon. I wonder what the neighbors will think when everyone starts throwing paper airplanes!!!
We will have an official paper airplane race. The plane that goes the farthest..wins. Easy enough.
To make our 15 minutes flow smoothly, BBJR and I ask that you premake your planes and bring them with you. To make the race fair we also ask that..
A. Planes are propelled by human power (no rubberbands, slingshot launches)
B. Planes be made from regular weight paper (no cardboard, paperboard)
C. You can use paperclips for weights if desired.
D. There is no size limit as long it meets above rules.
Be CREATIVE and decorate your planes, there may be a prize for prettiest, biggest, smallest, oddest, etc..!!!
Schedule of events as follows.
11:45-NOON wander around
NOON- At the sound of the BBJR sick airhorn gather around the "runway"
NOON- 12:03 sign log, eat lunch, get your planes fired up!
12:03- 12:12 down the runway they go!!!
12:12- 12:15 award prizes and CITO the planes
12:15 Leave the area!
Hope to see everyone there!!!!
